April 28, 2014Alligator is based on the theory that if you flush a baby alligator down the toilet it will grow into a massive adult alligator down in the sewers. While that myth has unfortunately been debunked, it does make for an entertaining movie. It all starts when a little girl buys a pet alligator and her folks flush the poor guy down the toilet in favor of more suitable house pets. Fast forward several years and we find out that the alligator's food supply has been discarded lab animals that have been injected with some kind of growth serum, which makes the alligator even bigger than normal. Investigating some bizarre deaths, a herpetologist and a police officer (Robert Forster) with a history of dead partners uncover the underground behemoth and try to take it out before it takes out the whole city. It's actually a pretty good movie, with good special effects.
